11/26/08 STOUT RACING NAMES RANDY BURCH AND TRENT STEPHENS
AS DRIVERS FOR 2009
By Denny Hudock
Rich and Steven Stout, owners of the Stout Racing Team and the #49 and # 19 have named
super modified veteran driver Randy Burch of Middleburgh Hats, OH to drive the Stout 49 and
rookie Trent Stephens of Ravenna, OH to fill the seat in the Stout 19 for the 2009 Midwest Super
Modified Association schedule. These two cars are some of the most potent in the Midwest
Super modified Association and the Stout family are looking for big things in 2009. Rich Stout is
a long-time racer, whose experience in midgets, stock cars and supermodifeds is extensive. Son,
Steven, has been working of race cars since his early teens and is acknowledged as one of the
finest chassis setup professionals in the sport. Together, they have won championships in the
MSA and have raced successfully in other venues. “We were looking for a combination of a
talented veteran driver and a young driver with the potential to do big things and we think we’ve
found a good mix” said Steven Stout. “We have raced against Randy when he was driving his
own equipment and he was a constant top competitor. His dedication to the sport of super
modified racing and his excellent record made him the obvious choice.” Randy was the MSA
Rookie of the Year and won a feature in his first year of competition, a feat not often
accomplished. Burch was also the Twin State Auto Club Rookie of the year. Randy and his wife,
Rhonda, are tireless promoters and goodwill ambassadors of super modified racing. Randy is
currently the Vice-President of the Midwest Supermodified Association.
“Trent Stephens comes from a racing family and has been racing since he was 7 years old. He’s
competed and won n Quarter Midgets, Micro Sprints, TQ Midgets, and 305 Sprints and has had
five of starts in a super modified over the past two years. He was the Sandusky 305 Rookie of the
Year in 2005 and won the Hard Charger Award in 2006. Trent is currently a college sophomore
studying chemical engineering. Trent remembers Randy taking time to show him the racing line
at Lorain and sharing information with him, and is looking forward to being a team mate.
The Midwest Super Modified Association season opens up in April at Lorain County Speedway
with a date to be determined. Look for more details as the 2009 Racing Schedule gets closer.
