As the countdown continues to Opening Day 2011, Oswego Speedway took a major step forward
in the most important part of the sport – driver safety.  Delivery has started for new foam blocks
around the speedway, with a chance for everyone to get involved.

“We would like to announce a new foam block program,” track owner Eric Torrese said proudly.
“For $225, fans, owners, teams, businesses, organizations, anyone at all, can buy a foam block at
the track.  We’ll stencil it with a message, any message as long as it’s tasteful.  It can be wishing a
driver good luck, a  thank you, a birthday message, pretty much anything, as long as it’s in good
taste. $200 goes for the price of the block, while $25 will go to the driver point fund.”

The older foam had seen better days, and was well used.  “It’s for the safety of the drivers,”
Torrese commented.  “What had been thousands of dollars damage to cars before without the
foam, now can be just hundreds of dollars.  The foam has proven time and time again it helps the
driver, and this is all about safety.”

Opening Day at Oswego Speedway is fast approaching.  Improvements are being made on a daily
basis to the speedway, and the new foam block program is just one example of the progress.
Driver safety is priority 1 at Oswego Speedway, and this is a step to help improve it.
